What is a MOD chip a ,MOD chip is a tiny programmed chip that is soldered into your playstation.What does a MOD chip do? Simply put, a modchip allows you to play backed up, copied or imported Playstation games (Without swapping!). They are required because the Playstation performs two checks when it first boots a disk. The first check verifies that the game being loaded was produced in the same part of the world as the Playstation being used (by checking the country code stored on the disk), while the second check verifies that the disk is an original, purchased disk, as opposed to a copied disk (by checking for errored blocks at certain locations on the disk put there as part of the disk manufacturing process, which can't be duplicated with normal CD burners). The modchip fools the Playstation into thinking that both checks have been successful, which means that any modified playstation can use imported or backed up games. most of them are A fully tested, pre-wired, color coded, 4-wire chip that will let your PSX load and play all of your games, including imports.
